ABOUT GRSF, INC.

  THE MISSION

The GrassRoots Steering Foundation, Inc. (GRSF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit community advocacy organization located in the Baltimore Metropolitan area in Maryland, servicing the African American and urban communities throughout the tri-state area.  The vision of GRSF is to help communities of color to live safe and productive lives.  This is accomplished by addressing problems of injustice that negatively affect various areas of African Amercian life.  Families, individuals and communities are provided assistance through active advocacy work on their behalf in the legal, legislative, law enforcement, and public school systems.  

THE BEGINNING

GRSF, Inc. was founded in late 1997 by a small group of concerned citizens who grew increasingly concerned about  interactions between the African American community and the local police entities.  Originally, the issues that most concerned the group were racial profiling and police brutality/misconduct.  Since that time, the issues we address have expanded as well as the territories in which we provide services.

VALUES

 GRSF springs into action when situations happen in the community that requires remedies and solutions.  Whether individual or community problems, GRSF professionally reviews each situation and assists all parties involved towards an effective, valid solution.  We embrace open and effective communication, accountability, mutual respect and positive outcomes. An intelligent yet responsible combination of advocacy, intervention, information, education and referrals propels GRSF to be a leading force in having community concerns addressed.
